Pohon is available in two different sizes, 100 and 120 cm in diameter. So you can choose based on your space and preferences. Please note that the rug is shipped rolled and may not lie flat immediately after unpacking. But don't worry, it will naturally flatten over time. You can speed up the process by placing a heavy object on top.

Main Material: Banana Fiber

Our rugs are made from plant fibers. They therefore smell and feel wonderfully of nature.

Banana fibers are fibers from the layered trunks of banana trees used in agriculture. The intense brown color develops naturally when the fibers are dried in the sun for about a week. The individual strips are then rolled into the characteristic, approximately 6 mm thick strands. Only old, dying banana trees are used for this material. This gives these plants a second life as a dimensionally stable and robust raw material for many handmade baskets here at Soeji.

This rug is handmade in Java, Indonesia.
When selecting our local producers, we value fair wages and good working conditions. In the factories where we purchase our goods, we employ only mature and experienced artisans. No harmful chemicals are used in the production process. Because all work steps are carried out by hand, the production process generates virtually no greenhouse gas emissions. We ensure this through regular on-site visits and ongoing personal contact with the companies.
